We are a townhouse community that was hit very hard by the storm at lake Anna on Friday before the holiday weekend. David Kennedy Tree and Landscaping was quick to arrive and had a fair price. They showed up in force to address a number of uprooted trees and did so in short order with a large crew and the trucks and equipment. The community is very happy and pleased with the work they performed. We plan to have them back for more work in the future.

Had to be out of town the day they came. Was able to watch some of the work on my doorbell camera. Could see they did a great job, verified with follow up photos and paid via Venmo. Job well done!

David Kennedy and his crew are on time and start working as soon as the truck stops. Great work done and they clean up behind themselves. I would highly recommend this tree service.

Fast and clean crew. They worked safely around my house and made sure the property was clean before they left. David was great with communication and scheduling.

David showed up early, gave me a fantastic price (lowest of the 3 companies I had do estimates) within 5 min, came to get the job done 2 days before expected and it looks wonderful!

What can I say about David and his crew? They were absolutely incredible. Went above and beyond everything I expected. Watching them work was amazing. On day 1 we had 4 large trees taken down. On Day 2, they cleared more than a dozen, including 2 large ones extremely close to my house, 2 dead ones, and 2 with trunks half rotted through. My property has never looked better, and I will be calling them again soon to come back and grind out all the stumps. We found our landscaper for life. Can't recommend highly enough.

David and his team provided a great quote for the removal of a large tree that had begun to damage our driveway. They were communicative, prompt, professional and handled a large and potentially dangerous job safely and quickly! I would highly recommend them to anyone needing their services and would be sure to use them again!

Local Tree Care for Mitchells Rural Properties

Mitchells is full of rolling hills, open farmland, and homes spread across quiet rural roads. Our local tree care starts with understanding the issues these properties face.

The Piedmont clay-loam soil here holds onto water after fall rains, and that extra moisture wears down tree health in species like white oak and dogwood over time. Add in summer drought and heavy winter ice, and roots that are already shallow get pushed past their limit.

That combination is why mature trees near driveways and homes start showing tree hazards that other services might miss. A slight lean or a hairline crack in a limb usually points to a bigger problem underneath, and left alone, it can turn into real property damage.

So before we recommend any work, we run a full tree assessment on the soil, the site, and the tree itself. That’s how we know what a tree actually needs, not just what it looks like it needs.

What We Offer

Complete Tree Services for Mitchells Homes and Properties

Rural lots, sloped land, and residential yards each bring their own tree needs. So we offer a full range of services built around safety, upkeep, and long-term tree health.

An arborist standing atop a tall, limbed tree trunk secured with safety ropes during a tree removal project in Mitchells, VA.

We remove dead, declining, storm-damaged, and hazardous trees before they cause harm. Piedmont soil keeps roots shallow, so tree removal near homes takes careful planning. Our crew performs sectional cutting to bring a dead tree down safely.

Tree Trimming

Regular trimming clears dead, damaged, and overextended branches before they fail. Pruning goes a step further, shaping growth and improving the health of the tree over time. Storms and winter ice hit local oaks and maples hard, so we keep your canopy free of dead branches.

Emergency Tree Services

Summer storms and winter ice bring down limbs fast in Mitchells. Our emergency tree removal team handles fallen trees and sudden tree hazards fast. We assess the risk, then clear storm damage and dangerous debris.

Overgrown brush and unwanted trees can eat up space on larger rural lots. Our land clearing service removes vegetation and clutter so your property becomes usable again. Properties near Rapidan Rd and Coffeewood Dr often need this kind of clearing for new projects or better access.

Stump Grinding

Old stumps take up space and get in the way of mowing and yard work. While we grind the stump 6-12 inches below the ground, complete stump removal fully clears the area. Piedmont clay soil makes some stumps tougher to pull, so grinding is often the faster path to yard restoration.

Tree Care and Maintenance

Oaks, hickories, maples, and pines all need different care to thrive. Our tree maintenance checks for drought stress, weak limbs, pests, and decline. We also watch for issues tied to Mitchell’s clay soil and compaction as part of preventive tree care.

Our Working Process

How Our Tree Service Process Works

We start our work in Mitchells with a clear look at what your property needs. Here’s how we move from that first call to a clean, finished yard.

Initial Consultation

Our team listens to your problems regarding storm damage, overgrowth, or a tree that’s worrying you. We then set up a time to see the site in person.

Site and Tree Inspection

The arborist checks root stability, nearby structures, and access around your property. Clay soil, slopes, and drainage all factor into how we approach the tree.

Risk Assessment and Planning

We run a risk assessment based on the tree’s condition and the site itself. Then we walk you through the planned tree work before anything starts.

Service Execution

We carry out trimming, removal, clearing, or maintenance based on the plan. Shallow roots and tight spaces near homes mean we work carefully around your property.

Final Site Cleanup

We clear all agreed-upon debris and handle full property cleanup before we leave. Your yard stays ready for normal use, without the mess of a tree job.
